Rescuer Support
The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous (JFR) provides monthly financial assistance to aged and needy Righteous Gentiles, non-Jews who risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust. The majority of the rescuers receiving financial support live in Eastern Europe, with Poland having the largest number of rescuers. The JFR provides a special award at Christmas for the purchase of food, medicine, and home heating fuel.

We are pleased to announce our new online program, How Was it Possible? A Holocaust Curriculum For and By Teachers™.
Mentes and Miriam Mordechai and their five children lived in Veria, Greece. Melpomeni's sister worked for the Mordechai family. When the persecution of Jews began in 1942, Melpomeni and her sisters agreed to help the family. The youngest child died while in hiding. Everyone else survived the war.

2024 Rescuer Holiday Awards
Amid the ongoing Christmas holiday season, The JFR is sending $323,700 to 83 Righteous Gentile rescuers of Jews during the Holocaust living in 10 different countries –the largest one-time seasonal award in the foundation’s history.

The JFR's 2023 Advanced Seminar, an intensive three-day academic program that explores several topics addressing the history of the Holocaust, took place at the Hilton Newark Airport January 14 through 16. Participants included 22 middle and high school teachers and Holocaust center staff from nine states.

Veterans Day Virtual Event
In partnership with The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous (JFR), the Holocaust Center of Kean University will honor the memory of Master Sgt. Roddie Edmonds this Veterans Day at a virtual event on Nov. 9 at 7:00 p.m., in honor of which is also the anniversary of Kristallnacht.
Evening Honoring Jewish War Veterans
EDISON, New Jersey – The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous (JFR) in partnership with the Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Middlesex County and the Jewish Federation in the Heart of New Jersey, will present an evening honoring Jewish War Veterans on Nov. 15th at 7:00 p.m. at the JCC’s campus, 1775 Oak Tree Road. The event will feature Pastor Chris Edmonds, the son of Master Sgt. Roddie Edmonds, who will recount not only the story of his father’s heroism in saving the lives of 200 Jewish American soldiers but also of how the younger Edmonds discovered his father’s heroism years after his passing.

The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous (JFR) has selected 23 middle and high school teachers and Holocaust center staff from six states to participate in its 2022 Advanced Seminar, an intensive two-day academic program that explores a number topics addressing the history of the Holocaust. The seminar, made possible through a grant from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (Claims Conference), takes place virtually January 15 and 16.

Roman Kent, JFR Board President, Passes Away

Holocaust Survivors and Rescuer from Greece Reunite
Two Holocaust survivors now living in Israel and their Greek rescuer were reunited today in the Hall of Names at Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem, in a program initiated by the U.S.-based Jewish Foundation for the Righteous (JFR). The emotional reunion took place in the presence of nearly 40 descendants of the survivors who are alive today because of the heroic actions taken 76 years ago.

2018 Rescuer Luncheon
The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous (JFR) will honor the sacrifices of Polish rescuers of Jews living in Warsaw in one of the largest gatherings of Holocaust rescuers in Warsaw. These righteous gentiles, who range in age from early 80s to 101, are dwindling in number, such that the JFR luncheon is likely to be among the last of such commemorations of its kind. The event will take place on Sunday, September 16th, at 1:00 p.m., at the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jewry in Warsaw.
Office Moving to West Orange
The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous (JFR), which provides financial support to non-Jews, Christians and Muslims who saved Jews during the Holocaust, has relocated its national headquarters to 80 Main Street.

“FOOTSTEPS OF MY FATHER” DOCUMENTARY RECOGNIZED AT BEST SHORTS FILM COMPETITION
The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous (JFR) recently had the commercial opening of its new short documentary “Footsteps of My Father,” which explores the heroism of Master Sgt. Roddie Edmonds in saving the lives of 200 Jewish American soldiers during the Second World War. The documentary was just recognized with a prestigious Award of Excellence Special Mention by The Best Shorts Film Competition.

The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous (JFR) has selected 25 middle and high school teachers from 12 states, Croatia and Poland, and four Holocaust Center educators, as 2018 Alfred Lerner Fellows to delve into the complex history of the Holocaust as well as discuss new teaching techniques for introducing the subject of the Holocaust into their classrooms. OXFORD HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER RECOGNIZED WITH HOLOCAUST EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous (JFR) has awarded Laura Boughton, Social Studies and Holocaust Studies teacher at Oxford High School, in Oxford, MS, with the 2018 Eduard Sonder Scholarship and a coveted Lerner Fellowship. The scholarship will allow Boughton to join 28 other Holocaust educators and Lerner Fellows at the JFR’s annual Summer Institute for Holocaust Educators, taking place at Columbia University in New York, from June 24th through June 28th.

The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous (JFR) will debut its short documentary titled “Footsteps of My Father,” exploring the heroism of Master Sgt. Steven Field, MD, has joined JFR's board of directors
The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous (JFR) has announced that NYU Langone Health physician, Steven Field, MD, has joined its board of directors. In his new role, Field will help the organization to achieve its goal of rewarding righteous rescuers during their lifetimes with financial stipends and educating future generations on their heroism during the war as well as on the history of Holocaust.
